Enroll a Child

There are a few more steps in the process.  You can speak to a Case Manager by calling 860-437-3227 Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Connecticut serves single and two parent/guardian homes in New London County, boys ages 6-12 and girls ages 5-14. We offer both community-based and site- or school-based programs.

As an agency serving young people, we have developed a successful application process for volunteers, children and their families.

The volunteer application process asks an applicant for references and releases to run a driving and criminal background check. We also conduct an in-house interview and orientation with each applicant.

The youth application process includes an application, an in–person interview with the youth and their parents or guardians. This information allows the professional staff to find the best possible match for your child.

We ask volunteers for a consistent commitment to an approved match with a Little Brother or Little Sister (one year for the community program and six to nine months for site-based programs). This commitment leads to the development of a rewarding one-to-one relationship plus agency support.

Special Situations

Growing up is hard enough with both parents, but when a parent is missing because they are incarcerated, it becomes so much harder.  There are approximately 1400 children of prisoners in New London County alone.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Connecticut offers the Children of Promise program, a program focused on reducing the cycle of crime in New London County.
